People who plan to recycle their mobile phones and upgrade to a smartphone may want to keep a close eye on Nokia's activities.
According to Ben Wood, director of research at CCS Insight, many competitive products are being rolled out onto the market at the moment.
However, he told Reuters that Nokia will be hoping to regain the initiative when it showcases its new E7 device at an industry event in London next week.
Mr Wood said Nokia wants to "lay the foundation stones for its recovery" with this handset, as well as its soon-to-be-released N8.
The N8 features a variety of features which should prove popular with people looking to recycle their mobile phone and switch to a newer device.
For instance, it includes an HDMI connection that allows people to display their videos and photographs in high-definition on compatible projectors and TV sets.
In addition, the N8 gives users quick access to social networks such as Twitter and Facebook courtesy of a single application.
