It seems that Samsung was top of Santa’s Lists’ this Christmas with the exceptional Galaxy SII out-performing its bitter rival; the Apple iPhone 4S.
Research by price comparison site uSwitch.com showed that the Galaxy smartphone held off the competition from Apple to retain its title as the most popular smartphone for the eighth consecutive month; including the all-important festive period.
Whilst the two top selling phones were pretty much nailed on (it was just a case of which way round they would appear) there were some notable absentees from further down the list. Nokia, for example would have been hoping for a stronger performance from its Lumia 800 handset, and HTC – so used to selling mobile phones by the shed-load – posted disappointing figures in the lead up to Christmas.
Predictions for 2012 seem to suggest a another Android-dominated twelve months, with the major mobile manufacturers promising more ‘wow’ factor with dual and quad-core technology becoming the ‘factory standard’.
