The UK recently held several conferences and seminars covering important Green Issues. Members of the UK Green Building Council participated and presented seminars on a variety of topics including the impact on designers, engineers and builders to achieve zero carbon buildings. According to the council every building whether it  individual or commercial should be required to produce a Green MOT about  energy efficiency, water usage and waste generated. By the year 2019 all commercial buildings should have "zero" carbon.

The UK is the leading green country, recycling on average 51% of household waste last year saving £7million. The UK recycled 163,282 tonnes of waste into useful renewable sources of energy thereby saving 117,934 tonnes of carbon emissions, equal to the emissions produced by 32,750 cars.

A new plan was launched by M&S where every family can save up to £1000 a year, reducing costs to £19 billion whilst producing sufficient energy to power street lights for another four decades. They've given many simple tips like how to use less water, switching off lights when you leave, cutting down food waste. A lot more ideas are listed on their website.
