Say hi to MiFi
(31/08/2010 11:27:41)

Novatel Wireless revolutionizes mobile internet with its portable stand-alone device which makes a “wi-fi cloud” accessible to multiple users

People on-the-go in constant need of mobile internet service need not fret as Novatel unveiled MiFi, a line of intelligent mobile hotspots.

Whereas one would usually need an external broadband modem which could only offer internet connectivity, MiFi, composed of smart routers that access the internet through a high-speed mobile phone network, creates a veil of high-speed mobile internet service which can be shared by many users whether they be carrying laptops, cameras, and gaming consoles. MiFi-toting punters can access mobile internet service virtually anywhere they can find mobile connection, whether at home, or on the move.

The small-sized, travel-friendly MiFi also promises a brand of personalization, for consumers can add their “own touch” to their mobile internet services by accessing an easy-access landing page, can provide other services such as content, and is also able to support applications created by other companies.

Even in its infancy, using the MiFi is as easy as 1,2,3. With its user-friendly interface, consumers can readily access service in just a click, even better news: no need to install software or hardware drivers. The MiFi device has an internal battery which can last for four hours on talk time, and fourty hours on standby on just one charge.

Peter Laparulo, CEO and Chairman of Novatel, believes that their line of intelligent and handy mobile internet providers will help expand the broadband market.

“It creates a unique opportunity for carriers to generate additional revenue per user through the deployment of innovative value-add applications and services,” he added.

Laparulo promises to make the devices available by 2009, much to the anticipation of mobile internet-savvy people.
