More than 400 Scottish call centre jobs are in jeopardy as mobile phone giant T-mobile confirmed it was transferring work from its Telecom Service Centres (TSC) to a new centre in Manila in the Philippines known as T-Mobile Dela Rosa.
Telecom Service Centres operate in seven regions of Scotland and one in the Dearne valley in Yorkshire, provides contact centre staff throughout the market is loosing its shine at the current business scenario.
At the contact services and technical support centre in Larbert near Falkirk the operator has axed 300 jobs and more than 100 employees in the call centers at Greenock and Yorkshire. “We’re working very hard to save jobs, but in vain”, says a TSC Spokesman.
He added, ”We initiated the formal process of informing Falkirk staff of possible redundancies, but can ensure all our employees that we’re working very hard, to attract new business the site and keep as many people as possible employed. We have a number of potential new clients in the pipeline and will do all we can try to secure this new business in the forthcoming weeks".
Stuart McMillan, member of the Scottish Parliament Economy Committee was upset at the news released by T-mobile but expressed confidently that "we support every individual affected and will be speaking to the Enterprise Minister in the near future".
