The Apple iPad app store has signed up with the first VoIP application of Truphone. This allows iPhone users to make VoIP calls over wireless networks. The iPad version has a larger screen and shows more details onscreen related to users’ calls.
It is a common assumption that users will probably be able to use Truphone to make calls over 3G networks. However, they will not be able to use Truphone’s features if the 3G network provider (AT&T) puts restrictions on the app.
Geraldine Wilson, CEO of Truphone said, “Analysts estimate that Apple pre-sold more than 150,000 iPads on its first day, with 2010 sales on track to hit 4 million.”
The Apple iPad device includes Wi-Fi, and 3G connectivity with those incorporated features providing a good fit for Truphone, which has a long history of giving the iPod Touch and iPhone a broad range of new options for staying in touch.
