It was only a matter of time before someone started selling a phone which was capable of live TV, it just so happens that Apple – as is often the case – are doing it better than most other brands.

A new update available on their latest iOS from Time Warner Cable will allow iPhone users to have live television beamed straight through to their handset.

Obviously with the gorgeous picture quality of all Apple products, the visuals will not be a problem. The only question remains whether or not the iPhone’s relatively small screen (compare it to some HTC or Samsung models) will be conducive to a pleasant viewing experience?

This new app from Time Warner Cable grants you access to around 200 of your favourite channels, with more coming online in the coming months.

Users can view the TV listings and bookmark their favourite programs, and even use their phone as a TV remote for their set top box.

The new app comes free of charge for all Time Warner Cable customers.
