MySpace claims to be the first social network to launch a service that will allow users to view video content from video-enabled mobile devices.
Mobile social networking is also beginning to take off, according to Nielsen. UK mobile web users are the most likely to visit a social network via their handset. Nearly a quarter of UK mobile surfers, or two million people, visited a social network last year, compared to 19 per cent, or 10.6 million people, in the US.
Myspace currently claims to receive more than 3 billion page views per month with 10 million monthly users. John Fatih says “Myspace will continue to grow the video library as they increase the delivery channel with the increase in users desire for video consumption”.
Earlier Myspace launched a new BlackBerry application, which went live in Canada and has since been downloaded more than 400,000 times by MySpace Mobile users, It is the first rich application with MySpace advertising support. Ads can be placed on exit points of the application, after friends request acceptance and sent messages.
