Consumers who want to recycle their mobile phone and upgrade to a new handset may be tempted to buy a new product from HTC.
The technology company is currently showcasing some of its latest innovations at a special event in London.
Among the products on display are the new HTC Desire HD and the Desire Z, both of which see the manufacturer step up its competition against the Apple iPhone.
David Phelan of the Independent was particularly impressed with the two handsets, partly because they both come with HTC Fastboot technology.
This allows the phones to be ready to go less than 15 seconds after they are switched on, whereas owners of other smartphones have to wait about a minute before their handset can be used.
The devices could therefore prove very popular with people who want to access the mobile internet via their phone.
According to the Office for National Statistics, the proportion of Britons who use their mobiles to go online has risen from 23 per cent to 31 per cent in the last year.
