Gaming fans may be getting ready to recycle mobile phones soon, as a PlayStation-branded handset looks set to be launched.
While rumours have appeared on the internet for years about the possibility of such a device, no statement has been made by the manufacturer.
But now the wait is nearly over for people who want to be able to enjoy PlayStation games on the move, as Sony Ericsson has put up an advert on its Facebook page regarding the date and time of an official announcement regarding the gadget.
The upper section of the display advert reveals that a statement will be forthcoming at 18:00 GMT on Sunday February 13th.
Sony Ericsson explained that individuals must 'like' the company's Facebook page to receive the details when the time comes.
Fans have been left in no doubt that it is a PlayStation mobile phone, with the advert including certification from the console and the joypad featuring the square, triangle, circle and cross-tagged buttons that will be so familiar to gamers.
The official name for the handset is the Xperia Play.
According to online resource MCV, the device looks set to run on PlayStation Suite software, which resolves an issue that has caused much conjecture among commentators in recent months.
The tag-line for the new upcoming announcement reads: "Android is ready to play."
In the US, Sony Ericsson took the significant step of taking out an advert during the Superbowl, which is well-known as being some of the most expensive advertising time in the world, due to the number of consumers that tune into the match.
Gadget enthusiasts who want to find out more about the Xperia Play can go online and track down the official video advert for the phone, or wait until Sunday to get all the details from the manufacturer.
The date is sure to be pencilled into plenty of gamers' diaries.
