These terms and conditions apply to the use of this Website fonebank.com. By accessing this Website or placing an order, you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions.

This service is for individuals who are 18 years and over. If you are under 18 please do not use our service

Using this Website indicates that you accept these terms regardless of whether or not you choose to register with us or create an order with us. If you do not accept these terms, do not use this Website.

Our site is only intended for use by people registered with us and resident in Great Britain and Northern Ireland. At our complete discretion we may accept or reject orders from people outside of these territories.

You will be able to access most areas of this Website without registering your details with us. Certain areas of this Website are only open to you if you register. We may revise these terms and conditions at any time by updating this post. You should check this Website from time to time to review the current terms and conditions, because they are binding on you. Certain provisions of these terms and conditions may be superseded by expressly designated legal notices or terms located on particular pages of this Website. If you do not wish to accept any new terms and conditions after we have given notice, you should not continue to use this Website.

Supplying Us

You are deemed to place an order with us by ordering via our online checkout process. As part of our checkout process you will be given the opportunity to check your order and to correct any errors. We will send you an order acknowledgement, detailing the device(s) you have agreed to supply. We will send you a confirmation by email once we have received your device(s). We may refuse to accept an offer of supply: if there has been a pricing or product description error; or if you do not meet any eligibility criteria set out in our terms and conditions.

If your device does not charge or the screen is not accessible then we will not be able to remove your data. Please do not send these devices as they will be £0 value, destroyed and recycled.

If your mobile does not adhere to the working criteria it will be classified as Damaged/Faulty. Damaged/Faulty mobiles must meet the following criteria:

Each Apple iPhone or iPad sold must match the make and model quoted on the order and meet the following criteria:

iCloud Locked Apple Devices (Back to Top)

If you are using Apple iCloud on your Apple device you must remove the device from your iCloud account before sending it to us.

If the device meets the working criteria, but is iCloud Locked the Working iCloud Locked price will be paid. If the device is Damaged/Faulty, but is iCloud Locked the Non-Working iCloud Locked price will be paid. Please note that we pay considerably less for any iCloud Locked device so please ensure that your Apple device is removed from iCloud.

New Devices (Back to Top)

New devices must match the make and model quoted on the order and meet the following criteria:
Please be aware that we carry out a carrier check to determine the network of new devices. This can delay processing times by around 1-2 working days.

Networks (Back to Top)

For certain devices we require you to specify which network they are on as there are differences in price. If after testing the device is found to be locked to a different network we will change the price accordingly in the form of a revised offer.

Working Gadgets (Back to Top)

Gadgets include: Apple Watch, Apple iPod, Sony PSP, Amazon Kindle
Gadget sold must match the make and model quoted on the order and meet the following criteria:

Revised Offers (Back to Top)

If a device fails to meet the device criteria selected on your order and outlined in these terms and conditions we will change your order accordingly to the correct condition. This will sometimes only be a partial reduction in price or ‘revised offer’ depending on the diagnosis of the device(s) by our operatives. You will receive an email informing you of the revised offer price with a reason. If you are not happy with a revised offer or downgrade we are happy to discuss the order and we will return the device to you at our own cost via Royal Mail Special Delivery.

Payment and Processing (Back to Top)

Fonebank offer payment by Cheque or BACS.

Cheques will be issued within 24 hours of processing your order and sent by Royal Mail First Class Post to the address provided on your account. We will only reissue non-received cheques 14 days after original Cheque issue. Reissuing cheques may take up to 7 days from date of request due to bank administration.

Cheques are valid for 6 months, and will be reissued for up to 12 months after the original issue date.

BACS payments will be issued after we process your order and will take up to 48 working hours to reach your account. If you choose BACS it is the responsibility of the customer to enter the correct account number and sort code. We use software to verify these account details, but Fonebank cannot take responsibility for account and sort codes that are input incorrectly. Please note that BACS payments cannot be reissued under any circumstances.

We aim to process devices within two working days of receiving them. Special Delivery and Drop in orders are prioritised. Please note after Christmas, Easter and Bank holidays, or new device releases we can experience a spike in order volume that can lead to slower than normal processing times.

Please be aware that we carry out a carrier check to determine the network of new devices. This can delay processing times by around 1-2 working days.


Please be aware that we only pay for devices listed on this website. Any other devices received will be recycled accordingly.

All prices include VAT (where applicable) at the current rate. We reserve the right to change prices without notice, but all ‘pending’ orders placed prior to a price change will be honoured at the agreed price for 14 days from the date that the order is placed except when an obvious pricing error has occurred. We will send you an email notifying you that your order has been accepted when we receive your devices. If we receive your device(s) after this 14 day period we reserve the right to change the price of your device(s) to reflect the new price (either upwards or downwards) if prices have changed during this period.

Special Delivery - recommended

We recommend sending the parcel special delivery to the following address:

Special Delivery means your phone(s) are insured up to a value of £500.

Free Tracked Returns

Once you’ve completed your order you can select a Free Tracked Returns service. You will need to print off a pre-paid postage label and take the parcel to your local Post office to obtain a tracked returns receipt that will include a 13 character reference allowing you to track your parcel at www.royalmail.com

Please note; The Free Tracked Returns service is insured up to £50 as long as you retain your tracked returns receipt. We strongly recommend choosing Special Delivery for any orders over the value of £51 as it insures your device(s) for up to £500 if lost or damaged DO NOT use Royal Mail Signed For when sending via Free Tracked Returns as this will invalidate your insurance.

Please don't post phones through our letter box, we can't accept responsibility for phones that go missing if you do. Please hand your phones to a receptionist and request a receipt.

Lost, blocked or stolen mobile phones (Back to Top)


checkmend We do not accept stolen or barred devices. All devices received by Fonebank.com are checked against the national CheckMend database in order to establish if any phones have been registered lost, blocked or stolen by the Police, Insurance companies or Mobile Phone Networks.

This is done by Fonebank submitting each 15 digit IMEI code, unique to each mobile phone, to CheckMend.

If your device is found to be registered lost, blocked or stolen you will need to contact CheckMend if you wish to have it unblocked. You will be notified automatically by email of the process you will need to follow.

Any devices that are found to be registered lost, blocked or stolen will be quarantined for a period of 28 days. During this period if the block is removed the phone will be processed by Fonebank.com and the full original quoted price will be paid.

If the block is not removed within the quarantine period of 28 days and the phone has not been claimed by its rightful owner it will be destroyed. Any costs involved in returning rejected items will be paid for by the account holder.

If you feel the information held by CheckMEND is incorrect please email CheckMEND at [email protected] or call them on 08700 112 850 with all the details including the IMEI number and they will assist you.

By submitting an order through our site you warrant that your device(s) comply with these terms.

Device Content

Please note that it is your responsibility to remove data from your device(s) before you send them to Fonebank. Note that we accept no responsibility in relation to the security, protection, confidentiality or use of such data and it is your responsibility to ensure that such data is removed from your phone prior to sending it to us.

By sending your device to us you agree to release us from all and any losses, claims or damages with respect to the data enclosed or stored therein or on any media used in conjunction with the device. If your device is functional, we strongly advise that you delete all personal data from the device prior to sending it to us. If your device is non-functional and has a "remote wipe" function, then we strongly advise that you attempt wiping the device prior to sending it to us. If your device does not power or if we cannot access the screen on your device (to remove the data) then we will render the device £0. The device will then be destroyed and recycled at £0. Please do not send Fonebank these devices

If we find data on the device then we will remove it

Fonebank’s data erasure service offers two modes of operation;

Both versions are accompanied by a full audit trail. In order to achieve a forensically secure erasure it is required that a minimum of 3-wipe passes are deployed to overwrite the inbuilt device memory.

CMR’s data erasure service securely removes all user data from all devices powered by the following operating systems;

Non-compatible devices will be processed manually, using inbuilt manufacturer settings to delete existing user data.

If your device is non-functional and has a "remote wipe" function, then we strongly advise that you attempt wiping the device prior to sending it to us.

SIM and Memory Cards

We will endeavour to remove any SIM or Memory cards left in devices we receive and destroy them. We accept no liability or responsibility in the event that any device that has been sent with its SIM card incurs any charges. You shall continue to be responsible for any such charges.
You are responsible for cancelling any airtime contract linked to each device. We are not responsible for any call costs that may be incurred arising before, or after, receipt of your mobile phone, or arising from any other circumstances whatsoever.
Fonebank.com reserves the right to reject any handset it does not deem acceptable.


You are permitted to print and download extracts from this Website for your own use on the following basis:
no documents or related graphics on this Website are modified in any way;
no graphics on this Website are used separately from accompanying text; and
any of our copyright and trademark notices and this permission notice appear in all copies.
Unless otherwise stated, the copyright and other intellectual property rights in all material on this Website (including without limitation photographs and graphical images) are owned by us or our licensors. For the purposes of these terms and conditions, any use of extracts from this Website for any purpose is prohibited. To register with fonebank.com you must be over eighteen years of age or, If you are under 18 years of age, that you have obtained your parent’s or guardian’s consent to sell your phone to fonebank Each registration is for a single user only. We do not permit you to share your username and password with any other person nor with multiple users on a network. Responsibility for the security of any passwords issued rests with you and if you know or suspect that someone else knows your password, you should contact us immediately. We may suspend or cancel your registration immediately at our reasonable discretion or if you breach any of your obligations under these terms and conditions.


While we endeavour to ensure that the information on this Website is correct, we do not warrant the accuracy and completeness of the material on this Website. We may make changes to the material on this Website, or to the products and prices described in it, at any time without notice. The material on this Website may be out of date, and we make no commitment to update such material.

Terms and Conditions of Fonebank Competitions (Back to Top)

Open to residents of the UK, aged 16 or over, excluding employees, associates and friends of Corporate Mobile Recycling Ltd.

Monthly prizes are exactly as stated and the draw will be made and announced on the first working day after the competition deadline.

The draw will be made by an independent person and the winner will be notified via a private Facebook message. The judge’s decision is final.

No Fonebank order is necessary. Winner’s details may be published. By entering the draw you are agreeing to abide by the full terms and conditions.

Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These terms and conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with English law. Disputes arising in connection with these terms and conditions shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
We do not warrant that materials/items for sale on the Website are appropriate or available for use outside the United Kingdom. It is prohibited to access the Website from territories where its contents are illegal or unlawful. If you access this Website from locations outside the United Kingdom, you do so at your own risk and you are responsible for compliance with local laws.
